Don't mind me, I've been eating a lot of cookies lately. And I just realized I forgot to mention that yes, HUGHES IS ALIVE in this story...
Well, here you go!
Chapter 3: Short-term Aftermath
(or, Danger Avoided?)
“Brace yourself, Al!”
There was a loud crash as the train car hit the ground. Ed coughed. There was a lot of dust and smoke in the air. “You okay, Al?”
“I’m fine. What about you, brother?”
“Yeah, same here. We should go out and see where we’ve landed.” Ed started toward the exit.
“Brother, wait!” Al put a hand on Ed’s shoulder to stop him. Ed looked questioningly at his younger brother. “Look,” Al said, and pointed to the floor in front of Ed. Just in front of him was a small pool of water, and there were some frayed electrical wires sitting in the water.
Ed smiled a little. “Heh. Thanks, Al. After all, I’d conduct electricity better than most people, wouldn’t I? ...I’ll just clean this up. One less thing to worry about, right?”
Al watched as Ed got to work. He clapped his hands around the wires, being careful not to let the ends touch him. He melted down the copper and let it drip out of the rubber casing, after which it pooled on the floor and cooled.
Once the wires were out of the way, he said, “Let’s get rid of this water too, shall we?”
Again he clapped his hands, this time placing them in the water. He decided that simply breaking apart the water molecules would be the fastest method.
Al was probably still a bit dazed from the tornado ordeal, but he could’ve sworn he heard an almost silent scream when Ed broke down the water…
After making sure there were no more dangers inside the train car, the brothers tentatively stepped outside. Once they were out of the cloud of dust and smoke, both boys stopped dead. Only one thought crossed their minds, and that thought was: WTF?
Ah, I just love cliffhangers, don't you?
